An important pair of Empire period tripod pedestals in solid mahogany and mahogany veneer. The stems are adorned with bronze torches and ribbon knots, caducei decorated with ears of wheat and floral motifs. Each pedestal is surmounted by a Louis-Philippe period candelabra with seven branches in gilt and patinated bronze. The gilt column of the candelabra, embellished with egg-and-dart and acanthus leaf motifs at its ends, is encircled by three scrolling branches supported by a tripod base decorated with chased bronze palmettes. Both pedestals terminate in three lion's paw feet in a distinctly Empire style. This period set will bring a striking rhythm to an Empire or Restoration style vestibule or study.
