A pair of small porcelain vases with gilt decoration on a dark blue ground . They feature a long neck decorated with gilt bands. Their rounded bodies are painted with garlands of flowers and decorative bows in gold. They are a product of the Sèvres porcelain factory , marked underneath and dated 1897, and gilded in 1899.
The Sèvres porcelain factory is the world's leading porcelain producer. Acquired by Louis XV in 1756 on the advice of Madame de Pompadour, it produced high-quality pieces that were exported throughout Europe as diplomatic gifts. Various sovereigns commissioned pieces from this factory to showcase the richness of French production. Now the Sèvres National Porcelain Manufactory, it continues to produce exceptional pieces, including reproductions of antique works, as well as collaborations with contemporary artists.
