A pair of Louis XVI style candelabra in chased and gilt bronze, each with three arched arms adorned with foliate swags, fluting, and pilasters. Both candelabra are signed on the base by the founders SUSSE Frères in Paris and the sculptor Bonnefond. Circa 1890
Claude Bonnefond, born in 1868 in Mâcon, is best known for his contribution to the Art Nouveau movement. This style is characterized by organic forms inspired by nature, such as leaves, flowers, and insects, as well as by rich and elaborate ornamentation. Our pair of candelabra is certainly an earlier creation, produced in collaboration with the Susse Frères company.
Condition report: Good overall condition with wear to the gilding. They have been electrified.
