Pair of ormolu two-light sconces in the Louis XV style. With their scrolled foliage decorations, these candlesticks are typical of the Rocaille style. The binnacles are treated like flower buds. This 19th-century reinterpretation takes up the ornamentation used under Louis XV. A period of great fantasy, bronze allowed craftsmen to show great originality in compositions that emphasized movement, curves and Rocaille motifs, with their blend of flora and fauna.
