Pair of Louis XVI style candelabra in chased and gilded bronze with three arched arms adorned with foliage falls, fluting and pilasters. Both candelabra are signed on the base by the founders SUSSE Frères in Paris and the sculptor Bonnefond. Circa: 1890
Claude Bonnefond, born in 1868 in Mâcon, is best known for his contribution to the Art Nouveau movement. A style characterized by organic forms inspired by nature, such as leaves, flowers and insects, and by rich, elaborate ornamentation. Our pair of candelabra is certainly an earlier creation in association with Susse Frères.
Condition report: Good condition with wear to the gilding. They have been electrified.
