Important pair of openwork baskets in white hard porcelain with gold decoration. The body, of flared circular shape, features a regular openwork design with ogive motifs, enhanced by a gold fillet all around the rim. A molded braid of palmettes in relief surrounds the base of the openwork section. Each basket rests on a pedestal with a fully gilded swollen body, mounted on a square base highlighted with white fillets and embellished on each side biscuit mascaron framed by pine cones, molded in high relief. The precise design of the openwork decoration, the finesse of the gilding and the quality of the paste suggest provenance from a renowned Parisian manufacture, circa 1805-1815. A metal pastille at the bottom of each basket could attest to original mounting for display or attachment.
Condition: Very good overall condition, well-preserved gilding with minimal wear, slight wear marks on bases.
