Pair of Restauration-period chased-gilt bronze torches. The fluted, slightly flared shafts are decorated at the ends with delicately worked myrtle leaves, florets and acanthus leaves. Each candlestick rests on a circular base decorated with floral motifs on an amati background, framed by a frieze of water leaves. The simple forms and finesse of the decoration testify to the virtuosity of French craftsmen during the Restoration period. Restoration period, Circa: 1820 Dim: W:13,5cm, D:13,5cm, H:29cm. In overall good condition, with small spots of oxidation on the bronze. The gilding is original.
