Pair of large Louis XV-style gilt bronze candelabras with six lights, decorated with Rocaille-style twisted and moving foliage motifs. The wicks are in the shape of buds, with the lights representing flowers. At the top is a removable flame-shaped snuffer. The circular base rests on three small feet made from the same decoration. This ornament of acanthus leaves and flowers is typical of the Louis XV style, much imitated in the late 19th century. To learn more about the rocaille style, find an explanation on our blog here.
