PAIR OF VASES "REAPER AND FISHERMAN", LATE 19TH CENTURY

Pair of crystal, gilt bronze and silver-plated bronze cone vases representing a young fisherman and a farmer. The farmer carries a gourd and holds the scythe, alluding to the work of the fields and the harvest. The fisherman carries a fisherman's net on his shoulder and holds fish. The two lift respectively a bunch of wheat ears and reeds dotted with flowers, from which spring the crystal cups with poly-lobed edges.
