Two paintingsfrom the Romantic period illustrating a country landscape with a mill, and a country scene with shepherds with their flocks and peasants dancing or chatting. This theme, known as "pastoral", was very fashionable in 18th century French painting and is in line with Rousseau's ideas in favour of the original harmony between man and nature. French school around 1820. Carved and gilt wood frames with original labels marked: "E. Grosvallet / Antique frames / Speciality of decorative objects in carved wood / Glaces Consoles Trumeaux / Paris VIIIe, 126 Bould Haussmann". Gouache on paper.
