Beautiful ormolu and chased clock with its globe, depicting Amour adolescent leaning against a bollard housing the movement, finely chased with crowns, laurel branches and floral scrolls. The dial, decorated with friezes of flowers on an amati background and Roman numerals for the hours, is signed CHAUVEL A NANTES. It supports a floral vase and the torch, symbol of love. To the left of the dial are the bow and quiver. The whole rests on a stepped rectangular base decorated with torches linked by garlands of flowers and butterflies, the symbol of Psyche. It is raised by four feet adorned with flowers and palmettes. The iconography of this clock refers to the theme of Love and Psyche, very popular during the Restoration period. Restoration period, Circa: 1820 Dim: W:26cm, D:10cm, H:34cm. The wire movement is overhauled and in working order.
