A finely chased, patinated, and gilded bronze incense burner and inkwell, comprising a basin adorned with rows of pearls and foliage, supported by a baluster base and three coiled serpents. The lid, pierced with holly leaves, is surmounted by a finial in the shape of a seed. On either side of the basin are small inkwells resting on quatrefoil leaves with florets and four pen holders. The whole rests on a patinated bronze tray, decorated around the rim with vine leaves, and supported by four claw feet. This object is distinguished by the combination of gilt and patinated bronze and the exceptional fineness of the chasing. Restoration period, circa 1815. Dimensions: L: 23 cm, D: 12.5 cm, H: 18.5 cm.
