A bronze statuette with a brown patina depicting the beautiful and graceful Phryne, a famous courtesan of ancient Greece. Adorned with jewels, she covers herself with the peplos, removed by her lawyer during her trial. Accused of impiety, Phryne is acquitted by the judges, who are captivated by the splendor of her beauty. Our bronze is signed "Pradier" in relief on the base. It bears the Susse Frères foundry mark. An early cast, dating from the mid-19th century. Circa 1840. Dimensions: W: 18cm, D: 16cm, H: 54cm. In very good condition, with a beautiful, nuanced patina.
