A polychrome fine porcelain clock surmounted by a bacchante and a faun seated beneath a cup and holding a garland of flowers. The clock is decorated with a shimmering array of bouquets, scrolls, and foliage against a blue and white ground with gilt highlights. Two small tritons sit at the corners, each holding a basket of flowers. The clock rests on a richly decorated plinth of foliage and crosshatching. This piece recalls the whimsical style of Jacob Petit, with its rocaille abundance of flowers and foliage, the contrast of vibrant colors, and the delicate and meticulous workmanship of the details. The movement of this period clock has been fully serviced and is in working order. Circa 1850
