An exceptional, richly sculpted gilt-bronze pedestal table. The Sèvres blue porcelain top features eight compartments adorned with exotic fruits, bouquets of flowers, butterflies, and birds on branches pecking at fruit. At the center is a rosette of white and gold oak leaves. The gilt-bronze mount is sculpted with abundant fruit cascades and rocaille motifs. The tripod base, also in bronze, is deeply carved with acanthus leaves and scrolling gadrooned foliage. The stem is embellished with a bouquet of chiseled flowers and foliage.
English or French work, circa 1860.
