Documentation: Hvidt & Mølgaard was an architecture and design firm based in Copenhagen from 1944 to 2009. Founded by Peter Hvidt (1916-1986) and Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen (1907-1993), the company pioneered furniture design and industrial production in Denmark during the 1950s, thanks to furniture that was easy to mass-produce and inexpensive to transport. France & Daverkosen is among the iconic Danish Mid-Century designers. However, little information is available about the company's history. It is believed to have been founded in Denmark around 1948 by British businessman Charles W. France and Danish cabinetmaker Eric Daverkosen. It seems that mattresses were their initial focus, but in 1952 France & Daverkosen established a large furniture factory in Hillerød, on the outskirts of Copenhagen. It quickly became one of Denmark's most successful furniture companies. Their signature style is seating with loose cushions and lightweight teak frames. Design Era, Circa: 1955. Dimensions: W: 190cm, D: 73cm, H: 55.5cm.
