A beautiful modular wall-mounted shelving unit by the renowned Danish architect Poul Cadovius, crafted from rosewood veneer. This bookcase, mounted on four wall-mounted panels, features numerous shelves, two sliding-door cabinets, a drawer unit, and a magazine rack. A Scandinavian design from the 1960s.
The modular system by Poul Cadovius (1911-2011), the renowned Danish interior designer, is one of the greatest classics of Scandinavian design. Created in 1948, it was one of the very first wall systems to offer the innovative idea of freeing up floor space. Indeed, as early as the 1950s, Poul Cadovius was working on a storage system that would provide maximum functionality while allowing for the personalization of each interior. He sought a modular system, easy to assemble, offering numerous combination possibilities and not cluttering living space. Poul Cadovius then invented the "Royal" system: modular shelving units with the possibility of infinite combinations of a set of standard elements. The "Royal System" enjoyed enormous worldwide success due to its lightness and modularity, allowing it to adapt to any interior. Later, he designed the "Cado" model, which we are offering here. The principle has been adopted by many manufacturers, but the "Cado" version of Poul Cadovius' "Royal System" is the original model, of unparalleled quality.
