Psyché et l'Amour" bronze statue with medallic patina by Jean Bulio. It depicts Psyche, recognizable by her butterfly wings, bare-chested and holding an arrow in her hand. Cupid, a winged child, clings to her leg to retrieve it. The bronze is signed on the terrace. It rests on a circular base in pink veined marble with gilded bronze foliage frieze decorations.
The work dates from the late 19th century.
Jean Bulio (1827-1911) was a French sculptor who graduated from the École des Beaux-Arts. Known for his cast bronze sculptures, he created busts of historical figures and mythological allegories. In 1859, he entered the Salon with a plaster Pandora.
