Sculpture in alabaster "The Spinario" after the model in the Capitoline Museum, Rome. The "Spinario" (Italian for "thorn puller") is a Hellenistic sculpture dating from the 1st century B.C. There are several copies in Italy, one of which - probably the oldest - is on display in the Capitoline Museums in Rome. It depicts a young boy, cross-legged, removing a thorn from his foot. Very popular during the Renaissance, this statue was widely admired in the 19th century, with its passion for antique statuary. Circa: 1880 Dim: W:21,5cm, D:23cm, H:34cm. Good condition.
