Emilio Fiaschi's very large and beautiful alabaster sculpture, with its finesse and acute sense of detail, gracefully expresses a woman of elegant bearing and harmonious features resting on a balustrade, in an arched, comfortable and sensual posture of great sophistication. She covers her smooth skin with wispy fabrics that undulate and embrace her body. Circa: 1890
Emilio FIASCHI (1858-1941), also known as Emiliano, was born in Volterra and studied from 1883 to 1885 at the Florence Academy of Fine Arts, where he spent most of his career. He is renowned for his marble and alabaster sculptures of nude women, with accentuated curves at the hips and waist. He died in Florence in 1941.
Condition report: In good overall condition with natural shading in the alabaster. Chips on the edges of the balustrade and the base. Base diameter: 23 cm.
