Small ceramic vase decorated with metallic crystallizations, created by the artist Serafino Ferraro (1939-2017) in Vallauris. This circular soliflore, in blue and ochre colors, is shaped like a pebble.
Vallauris ceramics encompass the production of workshops and factories in the Vallauris region of France. At the end of the 19th century, the arrival of the railway allowed for the development of production, and the small workshops in the town transformed into veritable factories. Then, in the 20th century, culinary pottery began to decline (replaced by metal containers) and gave way to artistic ceramics. But it was in the late 1940s, with Picasso's arrival in Vallauris, that the town's image as a center of traditional pottery became firmly established. In the 1950s, leading artists and architects flocked to Vallauris.
