A small porcelain inkwell , the body and lid decorated with a polychrome floral frieze within gilt-painted frames. The lid is crowned with a pine cone that conceals the inkwell. The gilt mount, chased with foliage and small pearls, bears a mark: "[...] PARIS " (partially illegible) and a maker's mark . Vermeil is a precious metal consisting of silver covered with gold. An apocryphal Sèvres mark on the porcelain, with four interlaced "L"s and the date letter "AA". Circa 1850
Condition report : This antique inkwell is in very good overall condition, with slight wear to the gold.
