Statue in patinated bronze depicting a leaning archer bending his bow. The athlete's bust thrown back, the contraction of his right leg and arm and his concentrated face illustrate the tension of the movement. His naked, athletic body is reminiscent of Greek statuary. This bronze figure is reminiscent of Antoine Bourdelle's Héraklès archer. Produced in 1909, the ancient hero caused a sensation at the 1910 Salon des Artistes Français. Our figure stands on a rectangular base of polished black marble. Art Deco period, Circa: 1910 Dim: W:80,5cm, D:20,5cm, H:41,5cm. In very good condition, with minor chips at the base. Very fine hammered bronze work.
