The sculpture is in alabaster and marble. The young child, in alabaster, wearing a short open shirt, has fallen asleep with his legs crossed. His hair, left long, forms a curl around his left ear. He uses a book with the first four letters of the alphabet as a pillow, straddling the back of the bench. The bench, in pink marble, is finely carved with floral and plant motifs. The connecting dice are adorned with gules of lions. The figure rests on a rectangular base.
