A gilt and patinated bronze jardinière mounted on a stepped base of sea-green marble, upon which stand at the corners women dressed in long tunics and a central amphora with swan-shaped handles. Like the female-figure columns of the Erechtheion on the Acropolis of Athens, these patinated bronze caryatids support a jardinière with fluting and openwork in the caning style at the top. On either side of the plant container, a semicircular garland is formed of flowers, leaves, ribbons, a laurel wreath, a quiver, and a caduceus. Circa 1860
Condition report: In good condition. Some slight wear to the patina of the caryatids.
