Modular sideboard dating from the 1950s, with a teak frame and metal legs. It belongs to a furniture system designed in the 1950s by Pierre Guariche, Joseph-André Motte, and Michel Mortier, working together under the name ARP (Atelier de Recherches Plastiques – Workshop for Plastic Research) for the Minvielle company. Our sideboard comprises a cabinet with two sliding glass doors, a cabinet with a drop-down door opening onto an interior shelf with integrated lighting, a cabinet with a side door revealing two storage compartments, and three drawers. In good condition, with some signs of wear. Charles Minvielle (1926-1975), who took over the family business of rustic furniture located near Pau, embraced contemporary design by calling upon the members of ARP in the early 1950s. In 1956, ARP designed a modular furniture system that would become its hallmark. With a modular system allowing for expansion as needed, these elements offer endless possibilities. At the same time, Charles Minvielle innovated by establishing his own distribution network. To this end, he founded Les Huchers, which merged in 1961 with Les Éléments Minvielle to become Les Huchers-Minvielle. Stores were located throughout France. Seeking to diversify, the company developed an office furniture division and brought in Pierre Guariche, Antoine Philippon, and Jacqueline Lecoq. In 1970, Charles Minvielle sold his company. Design period, circa 1950. Dimensions: W: 146cm, D: 46cm, H: 118cm.
