Two bronze sculptures with nuanced brown patina depicting two mythological figures: Jason and Apollo. They are portrayed as two nude young men with athletic builds and faces framed by curls. Apollo, the ideal of beauty in Antiquity and god of the arts, holds a scroll. Jason, a Greek hero particularly venerated in Athens, wears a panther skin over his shoulder and sandals. Each figure rests on a stepped circular base bordered with foliage. Signed "Chiurazzi Napoli" on the base. Early casts, mounted as lamps. Dimensions: Jason: H: 61.5 cm; W: 30 cm; D: 25 cm. Dimensions: Apollo: H: 63 cm; W: 24 cm; D: 25 cm. Maximum height (including socket): 72 cm. The Chiurazzi foundry, founded in 1860 by the sculptor J. Chiurazzi, was the sole recipient of Vatican authorization to reproduce antique sculptures, and thus produced them for all the major courts of Europe. Late 19th century, circa 1880. Dimensions: W: 30cm, D: 25cm, H: 72cm.
