FUN 7 DM chandelier by Verner Panton, mounted on a round white wooden ceiling rose. The mother-of-pearl discs are suspended by metal chains and connected by rings. Two bulbs are concealed behind the curtains of mother-of-pearl discs for light. The chandelier reflects the light and produces a crystalline sound as it gently sways. Verner Panton (1926-1998) was a Danish designer who brought a futuristic flair to his creations from the 1950s onward. He became a leading figure in Scandinavian and international design with his use of new light-reflecting materials such as metal and, in this case, mother-of-pearl. The FUN collection, created in the 1960s, represents a new design full of vitality. Design period, circa 1960. Dimensions: W: 96cm, D: 96cm, H: 85cm. Good overall condition, some chips to the discs and signs of wear.
