A small bottle of white opaline glass with a ball stopper. A wreath of anemones and forget-me-nots, painted in gold and dark blue, adorns the rim of the body. This floral motif is framed by gilt lines that also highlight the neck and the stopper, the latter crowned with petals. Exquisitely delicate, this decoration was executed by the workshop of Jean-Baptiste Desvignes , a painter and gilder of glass, crystal, and porcelain, who became famous for his technique of painting on opal crystal with gold or silver leaf and exclusively plant-based pigments. Pieces from his workshop are characterized by the use of matte tones of dark blue and red, with a predilection for gilt surfaces that dominate in the form of palmettes, florets, and finely drawn garlands.
