A Transition-style wooden commode with a central projection and marquetry decoration in rosewood veneer depicting quatrefoils within stained wood stringing frames and an amaranth ground. It opens with five drawers arranged in three rows, the two lower ones joined by a concealed crossbar. The marquetry features scrollwork, interlacing patterns, and rosettes. The ornamentation consists of chased and gilt bronze mounts, including garland and triglyph drops, handles with movable rings in the form of laurel wreaths, a finial with triglyph motifs, and medallion keyhole escutcheons. The cabriole legs are decorated with acanthus leaves and end in lion's paw feet. It has a breccia marble top. Late 19th century, circa 1880. Dimensions: W: 113cm, D: 57cm, H: 87cm. In good overall condition, with minor wear to the wood. The marble is in very good condition.
