"The Unmasked Young Girl" is a bronze bust with a brown patina in the Art Nouveau style, signed Georges Van Der Straeten (1856-1928). The sculpture depicts a young girl wearing a pleated dress, her hair tied in a scarf, smiling with a mischievous look. At the foot of the bust are finely sculpted a ball mask and a rose. The foundry mark "Sociétés des Bronzes de Paris" appears on the back of the sculpture (no. 7199). Georges Van Der Straeten was a Belgian sculptor born in 1856. Before training in sculpture under Jeff Labeaux, Van Der Straeten practiced law for several years. He demonstrates great technical mastery in his work. Art Nouveau period, circa 1890. Dimensions: W: 25cm, D: 15cm, H: 40cm. Good condition. Signs of age.
