Created at the end of the 19th century, this Art Nouveau bronze allegorical statue depicts Night as a young woman standing on a cloud. She wears a light tunic and holds a flower in her left hand. The crescent moon appears behind her. Signed on the base: "Caussé". Condition: The bronze statue is in very good condition, with slight traces of verdigris on the base. Background: Julien Causse (1869-1914) was a French sculptor born in Bourges, a student of Alexandre Falguière. His works were exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français in the 1890s, where he obtained honorable mentions in 1892 and 1900 and a third medal in 1893.
