biscuit porcelain group in the style of the Falconet children created by Étienne-Maurice Falconet in 1757 for the Sèvres porcelain factory . These statuettes, characterized by their striking naturalism and inspired by François Boucher , depict children engaged in rural activities ("The Reaper," "The Haymaker") or street vendors in Paris. Our biscuit represents four young blacksmiths busy with various tasks in the forge. These little workers are rendered with remarkable realism, some wearing large aprons. They skillfully wield hammers and tongs, and their poses convey the physical demands of this demanding trade. The biscuit is presented on a black veined marble base.
