Large bronze group with a brown patina, after Claude Michel , known as Clodion (1738-1814), depicting two dancing bacchantes surrounded by three playful putti. The bacchantes are crowned with vine leaves and draped in classical style. One plays the flute while another carries a putto playing the tambourine on her shoulders. At their feet, two other putti, also wreathed in vine leaves, play with the thyrsus, an attribute of Bacchus. The joyous procession rests on a molded red marble base. Signed on the base "CLODION". Circa 1860
