Bust of a woman with a turban in veined marble and alabaster by Guglielmo Pugi (circa 1850-1915), an Italian sculptor active in Florence between 1870 and 1915. The turban and dress are finely embroidered. Signed on the back: "Pugi". This marble statuette, made towards the end of the 19th century, reflects the taste of the period for polychrome sculpture and Orientalism, still important in Europe at the turn of the century. Late 19th century, circa 1880. Dimensions: W: 43cm, D: 23.5cm, H: 40cm. In very good overall condition, with three restored chips at the base and tiny natural holes in the band.
