Patinated bronze bust of Psyche, by Boyer and Rolland foundry. This bust represents a young woman wearing butterfly wings in her hair, her head turned towards an insect on her shoulder. The little butterfly probably represents the god Love. It is a sand casting made in the workshops of Boyer and Rolland, founders, whose mark can be seen on the reverse of bust. On the side, it is annotated Mm Léon Bertaux, the founder's mark in the workshop. The sculpture rests on a red marblepedestal placed on a black rectangular base.
The Boyer et Rolland foundry produced art bronzes and fireplace ornaments between 1869 and 1887. They made them from models by sculptors. In particular, they were commissioned to produce editions by Antoine-Louis Barye.
