A Charles X period portico clock distinguished by its symmetrical composition and rich gilt-bronze decoration. The dial, encircled by a ring of flowers above a stage curtain, is flanked by two cylindrical columns. Bouquets of flowers springing from vases on either side of a central urn with eagle-head handles crown the piece. The exposed compensated pendulum, ending in a wide disc, animates the central part of the clock. The whole rests on a stepped base of black marble, which contrasts with the gilt gleam of the bronzes.
