Two large pendant watercolors depicting lake and mountain river landscapes in Switzerland. Localized: the course of the Aare. Circa: 1840

François Jules Collignon was born in 1811 in Amersfoort, Utrecht, and died at the age of 35 in Bry sur Marne. Painter and steel engraver, he exhibited at the Salon des aquarelles in 1850. One of his engravings, "La chaumière", is in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
