A very fine mahogany and leather Empire-style office chair, dating from 1875. Each armrest is adorned with gilt bronze mounts depicting Egyptian busts. The two front legs of the chair terminate in lion's paws, and foliate motifs decorate the back, seat, and armrests. The original Empire green leather has been preserved despite some wear consistent with age, lending the chair its authentic character. This chair perfectly embodies the "Egyptian Revival" style. It would be a perfect complement to an office set comprising a stately desk and a large bookcase in the Empire style. 19th century, circa 1875. Dimensions: W: 65cm, D: 56cm, H: 85cm. The bronze and wood are in very good condition. The original leather is in good condition with some signs of age.
