Louis XV-style penholder in chased and gilded bronze. It is deeply carved with rocaille shells, scrolls and gadrooned foliage. This antique inkstand features two ink cups with 2 small removable glass cups inside, and two compartments for writing utensils. The curved lines and rich, ornate decoration are characteristic of the Louis XV style, in vogue during the Second Empire. 19th century. Circa: 1880 Dim: W:31cm, D:20cm, H:13cm. In very good condition, with slight traces of oxidation inside the cups.
