A Louis XV style inkwell and pen holder in chased and gilded bronze. It is deeply carved with rocaille shells, scrolls, and gadrooned foliage. This antique writing set has two inkwells, each containing two small removable glass inkwells, and two compartments for writing implements. The curved lines and rich, flowing decoration are characteristic of the Louis XV style, which was fashionable during the Second Empire. 19th century work. Circa 1880. Dimensions: L: 31cm, D: 20cm, H: 13cm. In very good overall condition, with slight traces of oxidation inside the inkwells.
