A very beautiful and monumental Empire-style projecting bookcase . Made of mahogany and mahogany veneer, it opens with three large grilled doors: a central door and two side doors, each revealing four and three shelves respectively. This majestic display bookcase features beautiful gilt-bronze ornamentation depicting winged Victories, Egyptian busts, masks, and foliate motifs (palmettes, crowns, rosettes), arranged symmetrically on the three sections of the piece. The entablature illustrates a coronation scene, with a winged putto in an antique chariot drawn by doves on a garland, as well as two allegorical figures of virtue. Imposing, understated, with rigorously symmetrical bronze ornamentation, this bookcase is a remarkable example of the Empire style and would bring considerable character and originality to any interior.
