A large Louis XIV style mirror with ebonized wood and rich repoussé and gilt copper decoration. The pediment is adorned with a basket of overflowing flowers flanked by two winged chimeras with open mouths. The central beveled glass pane has a double frame of carved wood and copper floral friezes, embellished at the corners with spandrels decorated with baskets of flowers. This type of mirror was very fashionable from the reign of Louis XIV until the end of the 18th century.
