The Angel with the Harp, color lithograph numbered LXXXIV/CL by Romain de Tirtoff, known as Erté (1892-1990). Circa: 1926
He was born in Saint Petersburg to a renowned Russian family; his father was an Admiral in the Imperial Fleet. He settled in Paris in 1912 and adopted Erté (RT) as his stage name to avoid dishonoring his illustrious family. He worked for Paul Poiret, designing costumes and sets for theater, opera, and even silent films in Hollywood. His work became emblematic of the Art Deco era. In 2016, the Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg paid tribute to him with an exceptional exhibition of his works: costume sketches, covers for Vogue and Harper's Bazaar, including a copy of our "Harpist Angel." It is presented in a beautiful patinated wooden frame with a gilt fillet and a hammered effect. The image size is 61 x 96 cm.
