A very fine lyre -shaped clock in elm burl veneer with two-tone bronze mounts, brown and gilt. The clock is richly decorated with a series of gilt bronze foliage and honeysuckle surrounding the dial. The lyre's strings are surmounted by the bust of a young woman with musical attributes. The dial, bordered with petals, is adorned around its edge with alternating roses and daisies, the latter framing white enamel cartouches indicating the hours in Arabic numerals. The lyre is supported by two patinated bronze griffins, resting on a base decorated with a bas-relief depicting a reclining Cupid watching two birds pecking at each other. The clock is presented on a rosewood veneer base inlaid with a floral motif, with its globe. Circa 1830
