Bathers appear to be enjoying this idyllic setting, while two men hidden in the bushes in the lower left corner watch the scene like voyeurs. This canvas, of great decorative quality, is nonetheless the work of a talented artist who masterfully combined grand perspective with meticulous attention to detail. The work is heavily inspired by the paintings of the Romantic period of the mid-19th century. It is signed Jacques Petit in the lower left corner. The canvas is stretched on a frame and has a painted, molded wooden frame. Circa 1900
