Large Carrara marble sculpture signed Barrias for Louis Ernest BARRIAS (1841-1905), depicting a young musician. He is seated on a cushion with pompoms resting on a pedestal, playing a three-stringed instrument. It stands on a base measuring 19 cm by 19 cm.
Louis-Ernest Barrias, born April 13, 1841 in Paris and died February 4, 1905 in the same city, was a French sculptor from a family of artists. After studying fine arts in Paris, he went to Rome and became one of the great hopes of French sculpture.
