Louis XV period commode veneered in rosewood and violet wood. The curved front opens to reveal five drawers in three rows. The whole is richly adorned with gilt and chased bronze mounts on the keyhole escutcheons, handles, and feet. It is also decorated with bronze mounts. The top is finished with a grey Saint-Anne marble slab. The drawers can be locked. The piece is stamped L. PELLETIER.
Denis-Louis Pelletier was a cabinetmaker in the Faubourg Saint-Germain. He was admitted as a Master on July 2, 1760 and is listed until 1789. He also owned a furniture store where cabinetmakers, such as Topino, worked.
