A Louis XV style allegorical clock in red tortoiseshell veneer with gilt bronze mounts, richly decorated with rocaille motifs and jagged acanthus leaves. The 13-panel enamel dial is signed "Gilles Laine, Paris." It is surmounted by an allegory of Time, depicted as a winged old man holding a scythe. The clock rests on four cabriole bronze feet, deeply carved with scrolls and foliage. 19th-century movement. With its original key marked "AM." Tortoiseshell specimen conforming to Article 2 of Regulation (EC) No. 338/97 of 9 December 1996. Acquired before 1 June 1947. Napoleon III period, circa 1860. Dimensions: W: 17cm, D: 15cm, H: 55cm. In very good condition. The movement has been cleaned, serviced, and is in working order.
