A wall clock in Martin varnish with a contoured base, decorated with white, orange, and red flowers on a green background. The chased and gilt bronze dial, with Roman and Arabic numerals in enamel cartouches, is signed "BALTHAZARD à Paris". The pendulum is adorned with an antique mask. Beautiful gilt bronze ornamentation, composed of flowering branches, a bird, and jagged foliage in the Louis XV style. The clock rests on cabriole feet decorated with fluting and foliage. The base is decorated with a scene from La Fontaine's "Fables": "The Crow and the Fox". 19th century. Circa 1860. Dimensions: W: 46cm, D: 20cm, H: 142cm. In good overall condition, with slight wear to the wood and a few small losses. The movement has been cleaned, serviced, and is in working order.
